Sheffield Wednesday midfielder attracting interest from Championship sides

Middlesbrough have joined Watford and Stoke City in the race for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Kadeem Harris.

According to One Boro, these interested clubs have received a boost in their pursuit for Harris after Wednesday confirmed they have put contract talks on hold until the end of the season.

Harris’ current deal runs out at the end of the season and one of the reasons Boro are looking at Harris is because he’ll be a free agent this summer.

As well known this week, Boro have let Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher go before the end of their contract and Warnock is unsure their loan players of Yannick Bolasie and Nesskens Kebano will return next season, so that leaves Boro short up front.

There doesn’t seem to be a clear favourite for Harris, but it seems all three clubs have a straight run at completing a deal considering Wednesday have no interest in contract talks until they know what division they’ll be in next season.

However, Neil Warnock’s side will have strong competition this summer as they’ll be competing possible with a Premier League side in Watford.

(THE TIMES)

The one possibility that may work in Warnock’s favour is that Harris has worked under Warnock before, when the pair were together at Cardiff City.

According to the gazettelive, it was on the advice of Neil Warnock that Harris decided to leave Cardiff for Sheffield Wednesday back in 2019.

So, for Warnock to be going back after Harris now is very interested and the previous relationship could be a benefit or a hinderance for Warnock.
