Hull City join League One duo in pursuit of 22-y/o free agent

Hull City have reportedly made a ‘late move’ to hijack Sheffield Wednesday’s pursuit of Dennis Adeniran, reports Hull Daily Mail

Adeniran is a free agent this summer after being released by Premier League side Everton. Now Hull have said to have joined Wednesday and Sunderland in pursuit of the 22-year-old. The midfielder came through the ranks at Fulham, making his debut against Leyton Orient in August 2016 where he scored in a 3-2 win before going to make his league debut against Nottingham Forest later that season.

He caught the eye of the Goodison Park club the following August but failed to make an appearance and last September, was loaned out to Wycombe Wanderers on their first foray into the Championship where he made 22 appearances.

The League One duo are said to be in pole position to sign Adeniran this summer, but the Owls seem to have the edge over Hull and Sunderland. Hull are actively in the market for a midfielder this summer and are still hoping to strike a deal to bring Regan Slater from Sheffield United in. However, that deal isn’t close as of yet as new manager Slavisa Jokanovic wants to assess his squad before finalising any decisions.

The Tigers are currently in Scotland at their pre-season training camp and will return to East Yorkshire next week. They’ve so far added four new signings, with McCann keen to add at least three more with a defender and striker on his shopping list.
