Barnsley, Millwall & Portsmouth lead the way for League Two midfielder

Championship duo Millwall and Barnsley lead the way in the EFL battle for League Two midfielder Dylan Bahamboula, reports Football League World.

The Oldham Athletic midfielder has been an extremely influential performer in a struggling League Two team in recent seasons. The 26-year-old made 38 appearances last season, scoring six goals and registering eight assists.

Bahamboula has taken that form into this campaign and already has four goal involvements in 11 appearances for the Latics, while also scoring in the EFL cup.

However, to Oldham’s disappointment Bahamboula’s current deal is coming to the final six months and with his recent performances a host of EFL sides have started to pay close attention to the midfielder.

According to Football League World, Barnsley and Millwall lead the way for the 26-year-old, while League One trio Portsmouth, MK Dons and Morecombe are also interested in Bahamboula and keeping a close eye on his contract situation.

Back in the summer, Bahamboula was on trial with Middlesbrough, as the Teessiders presented him with an opportunity to jump up into the Championship with them and link up with Neil Warnock.

However, Warnock in the end decided to opt against offering the 26-year-old a contract despite his period at the club on trial.

Due to Oldham’s current on and off field issues, it seems very likely that Bahamboula won’t be a Latics player for much longer. It’s to be seen whether any of this clubs make a move in January or decide to wait for the summer when it’s likely the midfielder will be a free agent.

Either way Bahamboula isn’t short of options this summer…
