His club form, where he has scored three goals in 11 appearances has caught the attention of some admirers from the EFL. Football League World are reporting that Stoke have moved ahead of Forest in the pursuit of Souttar and look all but set to reach an agreement with the centre-back.

Nottingham Forest have made their interest clear but are not confident of getting Souttar into the City Ground. While Stoke believe they have enough to get the 25-year-old defender to the Bet365 Stadium. One ace the Potters have up their sleeve is that Souttar’s younger brother Harry is already at Stoke and is a crucial part of Michael O’Neil’s side.

However, Harry Souttar is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury whilst on international duty with Australia. This has now highlighted Stoke’s need for defensive reinforcements this January and Harry’s brother John is the number one target.
