AFC Bournemouth & QPR see approaches blocked for Championship player

Derby County administrators have rejected approaches made by both AFC Bournemouth and QPR for attacker Tom Lawrence, reports Football Insider.

The Championship duo are looking to capitalise on Derby’s financial problems by luring away the 28-year-old by next Monday.

Now a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Derby have made it clear to the pair of interested suitors that they want to keep hold of Lawrence this month, as he’s a key member of Wayne Rooney’s side.

Lawrence is out of contract at the Rams at the end of the current campaign. Rooney named the attacking midfielder his captain at the beginning of the season to replace Curtis Davies.

The Wales international is one of the club’s longest-serving players after moving from Leicester City in 2017.

The winger has scored eight goals and grabbed three assists in 24 Sky Bet Championship games. Lawrence isn’t the only player being linked with the exit door this month. The Rams have already lost defender Phil Jagielka, midfielder Graeme Shinnie and left-back Dylan Williams.

Both Bournemouth and QPR are interested in adding another attacking option to their side this month, as they both look to bolster their promotion hopes.

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker has already added centre-back James Hill from Fleetwood Town while Man United left-back Ethan Laird has arrived on loan this month.

While for QPR they have held an interest in Lawrence, but reports emerge yesterday that they may now end that interest and look instead to move for Swansea City man Jamie Paterson.
