Nottingham Forest & Huddersfield Town interested in Premier League attacker

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Manchester City youngster Morgan Rodgers this month, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

The 19-year-old has spent the first half of the season on loan at fellow Championship side AFC Bournemouth. He has made 15 appearances under manager Scott Parker, though only one of those was a start.

Now it’s believed Man City are reportedly considering recalling Rodgers to send him out on loan somewhere else. If this happened, Bournemouth would lose their option to buy Rodgers if the loan is void this month.

Both Forest and Huddersfield Town are interested in Rodgers and this is what has made City consider recalling the 19-year-old. If Rogers stayed at Bournemouth, City could earn as much as £15m from a permanent deal in the summer.

Forest have until Monday 11pm to get a deal done for Rodgers and if the youngster does join Forest this month, depending on any other additions between now and then, Rodgers would become Forest’s fourth signing of the month.

Striker Keinan Davis has scored on loan from Aston Villa, while defenders Steve Cook and Richie Laryea have arrived from Bournemouth and Toronto respectively.

Rogers’ potential arrival would provide further competition for Brennan Johnson, who has been the subject of heavy interest from Brentford this month.

Speaking about Johnson after Tuesday’s win over Barnsley which saw him score and register an assist, Cooper said: “We don’t want to be taking him for granted.

“He looked a threat when he got the ball. Even things like getting the two left-sided defenders booked early on, you’re thinking, ‘well, keep getting at them’ – I don’t want to sound too cynical.

“His assist was brilliant for Yatesy’s goal, and his goal was brilliant. He’s a talented boy. And we love him. We’ve just got to keep working hard with him and keep pushing him.”

Forest have been linked with both Josh Bowler and Jed Wallace this month, which tells you Cooper is keen to bring in a winger this month. Now could Rodgers be the next target, considering the Reds have struggled to get a deal done for both Bowler and Wallace.
