Luton Town are being linked with a deadline day move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Jed Steer reports, Alex Crook of talkSPORT.

The 29-year-old who started out as a youngster with Norwich City, played twice for the Canaries, with loan moves to Yeovil and Cambridge, heading to Villa Park on a free transfer in June 2013.

He has played 34 times for the club since then, with three outings in the Premier League, his last in the 3-0 defeat at Chelsea earlier this season, although has regularly been on the bench under new boss Steven Gerrard.

Steer has spent several years on loan while being at Villa, going to various EFL clubs such as, Doncaster Rovers, Yeovil, and Huddersfield Town. While his last loan came at Charlton Athletic in the first half of the 2018/19 season.

Now talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has stated that Luton are now looking to strike a deal to take Steer on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Hatters have been searching for a goalkeeper this month as current goalkeeper Simon Sluga has been heavily linked with a move away from Kenilworth Road.

Luton have been recently linked with a move for West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer, however Crook has stated that deal is now unlikely and a move for Steer seems a more viable option at this current time.
