Peterborough United slap £10m price tag on key man ahead of the summer

League One bound Peterborough United have seen interest grow in some of their key players over the last few weeks since their relegation to Sky Bet League One was confirmed.

However, Posh are standing their ground as they look to bounce straight back up next season and have therefore, slapped a £10 million price tag on midfielder Jack Taylor who has been linked with Ipswich Town in recent weeks.

The current favourites for the 2022/23 League One title Ipswich have been linked with a move for Taylor in recent weeks, with manager Kieran McKenna keen on the 23-year-old.

However, Posh Director of Football Barry Fry insists his club want to add midfielders to the current squad not lose players. Midfielders Kyle Barker and Serhat Tasdemir were released by Posh at the end of last season, while Jorge Grant and Idris Kanu have been made available for transfer.

Grant McCann will be looking to shape his squad over the coming months as he looks to take Posh back up to the Sky Bet Championship and midfielder Taylor is seen a key part of his plans going forward.

Taylor and Jeando Fuchs are currently the only two fit central midfielders at the club as Oliver Norburn will be absent with knee ligament damage until Christmas. While Fry has recently dismissed talk that Peterborough may move for Plymouth Argyle midfielder Panutche Camara.

This is what Fry said when asked about Taylor and the Ipswich links: “I’ve had no contact from Ipswich for any of our players. In fact I’ve had no contact from any club about anyone. It’s far too early in the summer for that. There are still games going on.

“I will say we have no interest in selling Jack Taylor. If someone offered £10million we might, but that isn’t going to happen. We are looking to recruit a couple of midfielders so I doubt we will let anyone go from that position.”

Peterborough have also made goalkeeper Christy Pym, defender Mark Beevers and attacking midfielder Ryan Broom available for transfer this summer.
