Blackburn Rovers have made a seven-figure offer to Blackpool for winger Josh Bowler, as Football League World reports.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side are in the market for fresh faces in the final third, having seen offers turned down recently for Peterborough United’s Sammie Szmodics.

It now looks as though Rovers have turned their attention to Championship rivals Blackpool and Bowler. The offer is believed to be in the region of £3 million and it is yet to be known if this is near the Seasiders valuation.

This offer comes after it was reported by LancsLive last week, that Rovers were interested in Bowler and were considering a move for the 23-year-old as an alternative to Szmodics.

Bowler has only been at Blackpool a season, after he joined the Seasiders last summer after being released by Premier League side Everton. The winger netted seven times in the Championship, with his stellar performances catching the eye of now Premier League sides Nottingham Forest and AFC Bournemouth.

The Cherries saw a deadline day move for Bowler rejected by Blackpool back in January. Bowler has just one year remaining on his contract at Bloomfield Road, and now Blackburn have made their move in an attempt to bring the tricky attacker to Ewood Park.

However, there is still Premier League interest in Bowler which could end up harming Rovers’ attempts to acquire him, should these said clubs firm up their interest with an offer.
