Burnley are still continuing their efforts to further strengthen their squad, with a new bid submitted yesterday for Royal Antwerp winger Manuel Benson, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The report states that Vincent Kompany’s side are ‘speeding up their efforts’ to sign the attacker, as they look for replacements for the departed Dwight McNeil and the potential outgoing of Maxwell Cornet.

It was reported earlier this week that the Lancashire side had saw a second bid for Benson rejected, with Antwerp’s demands considered ‘too high.’ However, the Clarets are believed to have kept negotiations open as they look to reach an agreement.

It seems the situation has now progressed to them making a new offer today, with Tavolieri stating that a £4m bid plus bonuses was submitted yesterday.

Whether that has been rejected or is being mulled over isn’t mentioned, but he does state that there is a hope the Belgian side are not getting ‘too greedy.’

There is now hope from Burnley’s side that they are close to reaching an agreement to sign the 25-year-old from the Belgium side.

While Kompany’s men started their Sky Bet Championship campaign off with a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Friday night.
